Woman could face jail after stealing more than £3,000 from Carmel College

A WOMAN has pleaded guilty to stealing more than £3,000 from Carmel College.

Appearing at St Helens Magistrates’ Court on Friday, Angela Dawn Hopley, 36, a former employee of the college on Prescot Road, admitted taking £3,148.59 between July 2011 and April, 2012.

Granting Hopley, of Aveley Gardens in Wigan, unconditional bail, district judge Wendy Lloyd warned her that there was a risk of jail, adding: “You have pleaded guilty at the earliest stage, so not wasting everybody’s time.

“But I am not making any promises about what your sentence is going to be.”

Hopley, who was wearing a grey parka coat and carrying a large brown bag, must return to court for sentence on Monday, April 8.
