Teenage louts kicked wing mirrors off cars
10:56am Wednesday 13th March 2013 in News
POLICE are scouring social network sites, including Facebook, to track down the yobs responsible for a night time rampage, which caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage.
Neighbours looked through their windows to see up to 40 teenage louts kicking off car wing mirrors on Link Avenue in Blackbrook.
They struck just after 10.20am, damaging six cars, according to police. One resident called officers who stopped a group of teenagers close to the scene.
A 14-year-old was detained and taken home by police.
Further enquiries are ongoing as to the full extent of the damage caused. Another two boys will also be questioned in connection with the incident.
Neighbourhood Inspector Steve Lowe said: “These acts of senseless damage will not be tolerated. The police, youth services, fire service and the local authority are working together to put a stop to this type of behaviour.
“Schools officers are gathering information and scan social networks such as Facebook to identify those involved.
“We are working with the Council Safer Communities and Children’s Services and have launched an operation to combat young people who gather in the streets to drink alcohol.
"I would also ask parents to be vigilant and most importantly know where your children are and what they are doing.”
Anyone with information about the incident can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
