National art society tempted 'up north' for World of Glass exhibition

The exhibition Hand Drawn will open later this month at the World of Glass. The exhibition Hand Drawn will open later this month at the World of Glass.

A PRESTIGIOUS national art society which mainly exhibits in London is to showcase images in the town – after being tempted “up north” by a local painter.

A Society of Graphic Fine Art show titled ‘Hand Drawn’ will be staged at the World of Glass this month.

St Helens painter Paul Cousins, a member of the society, is credited with drawing them to the town.

He said: “The society is based mainly in the south of England, with members around the country including myself.

“I have been exhibiting with them in London for the past ten years and have this year managed to secure them a show in Gallery One at The World of Glass here in St Helens.

“I feel that this show offers something a little different as I am fairly certain it is the first time such a prestigious national art society has exhibited here in town.

A private view will be held on Saturday March 23 between 1pm and 4pm and the exhibition will run until Saturday, May 18.

Congratulations & well done, I am sure that your efforts will be rewarded. I for one will attend & support this exhibition & hopefully many more will. I believe that the right publicity will create the visitor numbers from within & outside the borough and generate interest in the exhibition, the venue, the town & the potential of what it has to offer. Good luck.

I'm impressed. I just hope the Council/World of Glass (I think the Council runs the World of Glass?) market this widely and wisely. We could do with attracting people into the town and this is an ideal opportunity to do just that, with something that has real prestige attached to it. Well done that man for pulling this off. I for one will be taking a look at the exhibition and will let others know about it too.
