Construction work begins at 'stalled' housing development

CONSTRUCTION work is underway again on the site of a stalled housing development that will bring more than 30 “affordable new homes” to the borough.

Property developer Mulbury Homes bought the site on Jubits Lane, known as The Beeches, from the administrators of Chelford Homes, which hit financial trouble in June 2012.

It was then acquired by housing group Regenda, which says it is committed to providing affordable homes for rent and purchase.

They will be working in partnership with Mulbury to complete the development in Sutton, which consists of seven partly-built homes and a further 27 new ones.

The development, which has received funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), will be a mix of two, three and four bedroomed homes, offered for “affordable rent”.

Greg Mulligan, director at Mulbury Homes said: “By creating a partnership with Regenda Group, we are able to deliver much needed affordable housing in this area of St Helens, rather than allowing it to lie dormant.

“We are making it a priority to complete the seven partly built homes by the end of March this year, with the entire scheme to be finished by March 2014.”
