THERE were disturbing scenes during a match between Liverpool and Manchester United under 21s at Langtree Park, when a player was confronted by a pitch invader.

Smoke bombs were set off in one stand and thrown onto the pitch during the fiery encounter on Monday (February 25).

In these  pictures, a man is escorted from the pitch by stewards after confronting Liverpool defender Adam Morgan.

Commenting on the pitch invasion, Morgan later posted on Twitter: “Glad there's photo evidence as well! Yeh what a idiot he was... just gives them a bad name.”

Despite fielding several first team players including England international Raheem Sterling and Haydock’s Conor Coady, Liverpool were beaten by a 94th minute strike by United defender Michele Fornasier.

An FA spokesman said: “We are aware of the incidents during the game and it is something we are looking into.”

Both Liverpool and Manchester United said they will not be commenting and Merseyside Police said they have received no reports of any disturbances.

Think it would be saints security, still it shouldnt happen anywhere..Football eh...good sport spoiled by morons..and only an under 21 game as well. Liverpool have had a few of these games there and no trouble.

I've been to a few of the NextGen Series games at Langtree Park, no problems whatsoever. I didn't expect such lowlife scum to attend an U21's game. Flares were set off and there was a pitch invasion, but most disturbing of all was the racist abuse directed at Raheem Sterling. With hindsight it was too much to expect Mancs to behave themselves, hopefully there will be some action taken against them.
