IF you’re a budding Wiggo, it could pay to brush up on your cycle maintenance skills before you hit the road.

As part of its successful bid to secure £4 million from the Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF) – St Helens Council, along with Merseytravel, is staging a series of free bike maintenance courses at the Church Road Estate Tenants and Residents Association (CETRA) in Pimblett Road, Haydock.

Adult cyclists can dip into any or all of the Dr Bike sessions which cover: A full bike safety check.

Removing and replacing a wheel, tyre and inner tube and repairing a puncture.

Fixing and replacing brake pads and cables.

Tweaking gears and replacing gear cables.

All sessions are led by a CRB checked, first aid trained and qualified cycle mechanic. All tools are supplied – all you need to bring is your bike.

The sessions take place on February 26 and March 5 and 12 between 6pm and 8pm. To book a place contact St Helens Council's Road Safety Team on 01744 676789 or email cycling@sthelens.gov.uk.
