Have your say on public transport

PUBLIC transport passengers will be able to air their views about local services at a transport forum to be held on Friday.

Merseytravel will host the quarterly event on Friday, February, 15 in the Parish Church Centre, Church Square, St Helens.

It will begin at 1pm, with a ‘transport surgery’, which gives residents a chance to speak to bus and train operators individually to discuss their own issues.

The formal meeting will start at 2pm with open discussion and information sharing. The main topic for this meeting will be TravelSafe, a scheme which aims to cuts crime and reassure rail and bus passengers.

Councillor Marlene Quinn, who chairs the meeting in St Helens, said: “Merseytravel values the important part our customers play through sharing their ideas and suggestions, as well as giving us important feedback on current local issues.

“These meetings provide a great opportunity for us to work with residents to improve all aspects of public transport across the borough and further afield.

“All residents and organisations are welcome to attend.”

I suggest a change to the Arriva bus drivers uniform. Going forwards they should all be issued with Balaclavas and stripey jumpers. Since £2.00 charge for a couple of stops is theft in my opinion.

Very funny. Blame the bus companies for robbing us, not the drivers who are only doing a job of work.

In court that would be called Guilt by association or Aiding and abetting a crime.

I don't blame the drivers. But they are the public face of Arriva and uniforms should reflect the company image/values.

It is good to see that the public is listened to on transport.

A few weeks ago I was on an Arriva bus going into town when a young couple got on with a pram near the Sally Army in Corporation Street to the bus station in Bickerstaffe Street. It wasn't even raining. Lazy or what? They deserve to pay £2.

Stagecoach drivers seem more cheerful and they're cheaper too!
