TX Maxx shoplifters electronically tagged

MEN who stole almost £700 worth of clothes and handbags from TK Maxx have been given community orders.

The Widnes men, Thomas William Lovelady, 45, from Hambleton Close and Kevin McAuley, 41, from Eversley, pleaded guilty at St Helens Magistrates Court.

Lovelady stole £449 worth of items and McAuley took £230 from the store on St Helens Retail Park on December 16.

They have been electronically tagged and placed under curfew for six weeks.

Both were fined £145.

Just want to add to this article :

Both were fined £145, to be deducted from their benefits.

I'm amazed they found that many items they actually liked enough to steal from TK Maxx.

Hardly a deterrent, and you'd get a similar sentence for beating someone to a pulp. The law is still too soft on criminals whether against property or person.

Unfortunately correct, what needs to happen is society needs to reject them, make them outcasts. Make them wear something that identifies them as an outcast, and let us treat them like the dirt that they are.

If they dont want to live by our lows, why should they be protected by them
