WITH a roof that collects rainwater which is then filtered under water to irrigate the Langtree Park pitch, Saints are doing their bit for the environment.

Now the club’s bosses are pledging to embark on becoming a greener company after strengthening its partnership with a growing local firm.

Solar King, South Stand sponsors at Langtree Park, have been appointed the club’s official green partner, an agreement said to involve a significant investment in the club.

It could see more green technology at the stadium, which boasts a sophisticated watering system and a biomass burner, which converts waste to energy.

Solar King supply, design, install and commission various micro-generation technologies.

This includes key green products such as LED lighting, solar panels plus thermal and heat pumps.

Saints head of sales and marketing, Dave Hutchinson, said: “This partnership demonstrates we are leading the way in green innovation.

“Solar King will become our Official Green Partner – a unique symbol of our commitment to sustainability.

“Solar King have shown fantastic support for Saints since day one of our new home at Langtree Park.”

Yes the roof collects the rainwater. But so does the inside near the concession stands and toilets when it's raining. Thanks to a bad design and no sides at the top of the stadium!
