Derbyshire Hill neighbours: It's only a matter of time before someone is shot'

THESE stark images show how neighbours have been confronted again with the alarming sight of a heavy police presence on their street after gunshots were blasted at a house.

Officers from Merseyside anti-gun crime Matrix squad spent several hours combing Derbyshire Hill Road for evidence.

It follows shots that were fired at the house on Wednesday, January 30. The area has been blighted by shootings, which are believed to be linked to a feud between rival factions from the traveller community.

Many residents fear the shootings will one day lead to a tragedy and say it is time that something should be done.

A mother who lives on the estate and has asked not to be named said: “What do you say when you are questioned by your eight-year-old?

“It’s hard talking about guns, when they see that the door and window of the house have been hit. My daughter has friends who live a few doors away from it and she said that they are all talking about it in school.

“People round here are not happy and won’t be until something gets done about it.”

Another neighbour, who has also asked not to be named, added: “I saw cars driving away after I heard shotgun shots.

“It is only a matter of time before someone is shot or even killed. I have grandchildren that live metres away. Something should be done by the police.”

A police spokesperson confirmed a 15-year-old boy and 24-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and criminal damage.

They have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information can contact the Matrix team on 0151 777 5699 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
