POLICE have issued a warning to the public after a rucksack containing methadone was left on a bus heading for St Helens.

The owner picked up the prescription drugs from a chemist in Liverpool city centre yesterday (Wednesday, February 6) and placed them in a beige rucksack, before getting on the number 10 bus at around 10am.

But when he got off he forgot to take the rucksack, which contained 360ml of methadone in a brown bottle.

Anyone who comes across the rucksack is warned not to take the drug and hand them into the nearest chemist, medical centre or police station as they can cause serious harm if taken in large doses or by someone they have not been prescribed to.

If you have any information, call police on the non-emergency number 101.
