The injured woman is sheltered by passers-by after the accident at the bend of Birchley Street and Corporation Street.
PASSERS-BY rushed to the aid of a pedestrian in her 60s who was knocked down at a sharp bend in St Helens town centre.
The collision – involving a blue Citroen Xsara Picasso – happened opposite the St Helens Courthouse, where Corporation Street and Birchley Street meet.
With heavy sleet falling on Tuesday afternoon, passers-by sheltered the injured woman as she lay on the ground waiting for an ambulance.
A police spokesman said the woman was taken to Whiston Hospital. The extent of her injuries are not clear at this stage.
