A MAN accused of going on a “drunken rampage”, causing more than £2,000 worth of damage to vehicles, including a police car, is to be sentenced next month.

Adam Polding, 21, from Emily Street, in Thatto Heath faces 19 counts of criminal damage and two of attempted criminal damage following a destructive spree on October 28 last year.

In a hearing at St Helens Magistrates Court, prosecutor Angela Blackmore explained: “The defendant was seen in the Thatto Heath area going on a drunken rampage, kicking vehicles.

"One was on Emily Street, where witnesses named him and he was identified following a description.

“There is a considerable amount of compensation as a lot of people have taken the time to carry out the repairs themselves.

“The highest amount of damage was £1,000 to a Jaguar car. He was interviewed twice, the first time he was too drunk to remember what he had done.”

Ms Blackmore said that he entered a guilty plea in the second interview.

Defence solicitor Chris Maloney acknowledged that the custody threshold had been passed and said that a pre-sentence report would be “necessary”.

Polding was bailed to return back before magistrates next month.
