DETECTIVES have released an e-fit of a pervert who indecently assaulted a schoolgirl.

The 14-year-old victim was walking along Harrison Way, Newton-le-Willows when a man approached her and asked for directions to Earlestown rail station.

She advised him and carried on walking – heading towards Whimbrel Avenue.

As she approached an alleyway the man caught up with her. He then put his hand up her skirt and made inappropriate comments.

The attacker then ran down the alleyway and turned right onto Victoria Road in the direction of Wargrave Road.

The girl has been left shaken by the ordeal.

Police released the e-fit as they attempt to make a breakthrough if their investigation of the incident which happened at about 3.30pm on Friday, December 14.

DC Chris Loughead, added: "I would like to reassure parents and teachers that incidents like this are rare and we are taking it extremely seriously.

"I would urge anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone who recognises the man pictured to contact us."

The offender is described as being white, 40 to 50 years of age of a medium build with short greying mousy brown hair.

He was unshaven, with a ruddy complexion, and was wearing rimless square glasses.

this happened on the 14th of december and there only telling us now??,,, wonder how many more hes done it too in the mean time

Where I live in Kent the local schools all work together to rid behaviour like this. Using the Phrase "Stranger Danger" Parents work with the teachers basically creating an "awareness" of pervs like this through different mediums. I am sure there is information on the "netmums" website
