Snow, rain and then ice in weather forecast for St Helens
8:06am Friday 25th January 2013 in News
FURTHER snowfall will spread from the west today, as a weather front brings rain readily turning to snow as it hits the prevailing colder conditions.
The Met Office has a yellow weather warning in place for St Helens, with heavy snow turning to sleet predicted to hit the area in early afternoon today (Friday, Jan 25).
Worst of the snow is expected to fall in eastern parts of the North West with the potential for drifting in strong winds.
An additional hazard could see icy conditions on Saturday morning if temperatures dip beneath freezing overnight.
Things are expected to turn milder over the weekend with heavy rain back on the menu for Sunday.
