Man jailed for assault
12:00pm Friday 25th January 2013 in News
A MAN who attacked a woman in front of a child on Christmas Day, has been jailed for more than four months.
Michael Anthony Crosby, 22, from Roper Street in Fingerpost, faced three charges of assault on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve.
He also pleaded guilty to causing £500 of damage to a container roof.
Crosby admitted attacking the woman while under the influence of drink and drugs.
Magistrates sentenced him to 18 weeks in prison because his offence was deemed so serious and aggravated by a number of factors.
These included the fact that the attack was in front of a child, it was unprovoked and because of his previous record of offending.
The offences were also committed while he was subject to a community order imposed on November 1.
This was subsequently revoked once he was jailed.
