Derailment leads to disruption to Manchester trains passing through St Helens

TRAINS from Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Victoria passing through St Helens are being disrupted this evening after a derailment.

Due to the incident involving an empty charter train between Salford Crescent and Deansgate station, some Northern Rail services out of Manchester are subject to delays this evening: Northern Rail say that Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Victoria services are terminating at Earlestown.

Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Airport services have also been cancelled until further notice.

Rail Replacement Buses are operating between:

• Manchester Oxford Road to Salford Crescent

• Manchester Victoria to Earlestown

A spokesman for Northern Rail said: "We’d like to advise all our passengers to check before they travel and to be as patient as possible while we work to keep trains moving during the peak."
