STAFF at HMV in St Helens remain in the dark after being told to “carry on business as usual” despite the announcement that the company has appointed an administrator.

Ten members of staff at the entertainment store in Church Square Shopping Centre now face a threat to their jobs, as they have yet to have been informed over the store’s future as the Star went to press.

They will no longer be selling gift vouchers or issuing refunds. It is believed that this has already led to angry customers confronting staff.

HMV, which employs more than 4,000 people said in a statement: “The board regrets to announce that it has been unable to reach a position where it feels able to continue to trade outside of insolvency protection, and in the circumstances therefore intends to file notice to appoint administrators to the company and certain of its subsidiaries with immediate effect.

“The directors of the company understand that it is the intention of the administrators, once appointed, to continue to trade whilst they seek a purchaser for the business.”

It's may be unfair that they won't redeem gift vouchers but don't take it out on the staff, these people may lose their jobs. Register your complaint with the administrators.
