Wet weather swiftly washes away snowfall

ST HELENS experienced its first snowfall of the winter last night, however, the covering was swiftly washed away by sleet and rain that followed.

Snow fell across the borough yesterday evening (Sunday), with areas such as Billinge and Rainford left with a dusting of white stuff on the grounds.

But, as predicted by the Met Office, it was quickly wiped out by a band of sleet and rain that followed.

Wet weather is expected to continue throughout the day and temperatures could dip to below freezing overnight.

Tuesday should be mostly dry, however, the temperatures are expected to plummet through Sunday morning.
