Tobacco thief is spared prison

A THIEF has been given a suspended jail sentence after being found guilty of stealing more than £3,000 worth of tobacco.
Gary Robinson, 31, from Otley in West Yorkshire was found guilty at St Helens Magistrates’ Court of stealing from distribution firm Wincanton, Elton Head Road, on March 27, 2012.
Robinson, who had pleaded not guilty, was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison, suspended for a year and must also carry out 180 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.
He was ordered to pay £450 in costs.
