HOMES and businesses were left without power for more than 12 hours and traffic lights were out at one of the town's busiest junctions after a power cut in Windle.
Residents reported losing power in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Motorists also reported difficulty crossing Windle Island junction at the East Lancs Road with the traffic lights there not working earlier this morning (Sunday)
It is not clear what has caused the power to fail at this stage.
However, residents turned to social media to vent their frustration at having no electricity when many people are busy planning for Christmas.
Some said power had returned by late this afternoon.
The Rainford area also experienced a couple of short-lived power blips on Saturday night and early Sunday morning, leading to a number of domestic and shop alarms being triggered.
