TWELVE arrests were made and £6,000 was recouped during a crackdown on people who fail to attend at court or pay fines.
A day of action involving St Helens police officers and Her Majesty’s Court Services targeted 62 people.
Twelve were taken into custody and put before the next available court.
Sergeant Ian Peacock said: "We hope this operation sends out a message that defendants skipping bail or failing to pay their court fines, will be dealt with robustly.
"People failing to appear at court disrupts the course of justice and causes delays in the court process - often causing heart ache for victims, witnesses and their families.”
