Council closes sports pitches after bad weather
HEAVY rainfall today has led St Helens Council to close all its local authority run football and rugby pitches this weekend.
It will mean sports fixtures played on council run facilities will have to be postponed.
A statement issued this afternoon read: “Due to deteriorating weather conditions, St Helens Council has decided to close its football/rugby pitches this weekend – December 15 and 16.
“The council apologises for any inconvenience. The decision was taken for health and safety reasons.”
