FURTHER horrific sex crimes came to light when the daughter of a convicted offender spotted alarming messages on Facebook.

Thomas Beddow, (seen right) whose daughter had earlier ended his sickening behaviour, has now been jailed for molesting a 13-year-old girl.

Beddow thought he had got away with the abuse, until his daughter detected Facebook messages he had sent to another sex offender and she went to the authorities.

The 56-year-old grandfather pleaded guilty at Liverpool Crown Court to two offences of sexual assault and one of enticing the child to engage in sexual activity. He also admitted being in breach of a sexual offenders order and was jailed for three years and four months.

Passing sentence, Judge Thomas Teague QC said that Beddow’s daughter spoke to the victim after finding the Facebook messages and she confirmed what happened.

When confronted by his daughter Beddow admitted it was true, but threatened to take his own life.

The court heard that Beddow, from Rudd Avenue, Derbyshire Hill, has previous convictions, including a 27 month term for similar offences.

Steven Swift, defending, said that Beddow had admitted his guilt and has been a trusted prisoner while on remand.

Judge Teague imposed an indefinite Sexual Offences Prevention Order, banning him from being alone or in contact with under 16-year-olds and ordered him to sign the Sex Offenders register for life.
