ST HELENS Council is expected to begin consultation over proposals to reduce its mobile community library services.

The move comes as the council faces the task of balancing its books following £60-million of funding cuts from central government over the past three years.

The consultation is expected to centre on whether mobile library services will be reduced for people living in residential and sheltered accommodation.

The council is already consulting over proposals to mothball the swimming pool at Sutton Leisure Centre to save money.
