A 24-YEAR-OLD man, arrested after a 70-year-old woman pedestrian was in collision with a car on the St Helens Linkway, has been released on bail.

The woman is believed to have suffered a fractured arm during the incident involving the grey Skoda.

Police say a man from Thatto Heath was arrested on suspicion of driving without due care and attention and on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug.

He was questioned before being released on bail.

The southbound carriageway of the St Helens Linkway, near the Micklehead Green roundabout, was closed for more than two hours following the incident that happened shortly after noon on Tuesday, December 11.
