EMERGENCY crews were called after a car left the road and struck a hair salon this afternoon.

The Volvo hit the corner of the building on Mercer Street, Newton-le-Willows at 2.45pm on Tuesday.

According to fire crews, two men, aged 28 and 24, and a 19-year-old woman, were out of the car when the emergency services arrived.

The casualties were suffering from suspected whiplash and cuts.

Firefighters administered oxygen to the woman and she was taken to Whiston Hospital as a precaution.
