RESIDENTS are being urged to help make a child’s Christmas by donating a toy to the annual Asda Christmas Gift Appeal, supported by Helena Partnerships.

Helena is supporting Asda by offering five of its offices as alternative donation points, with the aim of topping last year’s total of 270 gifts.

Roy Williams, project officer at Helena, said: “While Christmas is a happy time for most families, there are some children living right on our doorstep who will go without presents this year.

"We’re hoping that by increasing the number of donation points around St Helens we can make it easier for people to give a gift and help Asda to make a difference for local families who are struggling this Christmas.”

New, unwrapped gifts for babies and youngsters up to the age of 17 can be donated at Asda seven days a week, or from Monday to Friday at Helena Central, Helena West, Helena East, re:new Four Acre and re:new Parr.

The appeal is also supported by Radio City 96.7’s Cash For Kids charity. Applications must be made by recognised bodies or professionals, such as social services, charities, teachers, doctors and children’s organisations.
