The boy's BBM profile was on his phone, which was left at the crime scene.
A BUNGLING teenage burglar was caught out – after he accidentally left his mobile phone behind at the scene of his crime.
The 17-year-old boy from Clock Face dropped his Blackberry Curve in the bedroom of the house he broke into.
When the 33-year-old owner returned from staying at a friend's house in Lancashire, she found the phone on her bed.
When she checked its BBM profile, the name of the intruder flashed up and she called the police.
Detectives from St Helens CID searched the offender’s home for the digital photo frame that the victim had reported missing but could not find it.
However the teenager admitted having broken into the house in Clock Face on October 12 to burgle it.
He was given a 12-month supervision order, a youth rehabilitation order and made to do 100 hours unpaid community work by St Helens Magistrates’ court.
