FIREFIGHTERS had to slice off the roof of a car to free a man trapped in a car following a two vehicle traffic collision.

The incident happened near the junction of Bridge Road and Warrington Road, Prescot at around 2.41pm this afternoon (Monday, November 12).

He was lifted from the vehicle on a spinal board and was taken to nearby Whiston Hospital.

A woman in the other car was assessed by paramedics, but she was not trapped. Neither car had overturned.
