Man accused of Help for Heroes fraud
A MAN has appeared in court accused of pocketing charity donations he claimed were being raised for Help for Heroes.
Paul Richardson, 52, is charged with committing fraud by allegedly taking for personal gain £650 that he had raised on behalf of the wounded soldiers charity.
Richardson, of Lincoln Drive, Ashton-in-Makerfield, is accused of committing the offence on July 21 at Lodge Lane, Haydock.
He pleaded not guilty at St Helens Magistrates’ Court and will stand trial on January 4 next year.
The court granted him bail on condition that he is not involved in the collection of any money raised for charity work.
