JOHNNY VEGAS has begun a libel action against Guardian News and Media over two articles about his alleged behaviour on stage with a woman during a stand-up performance.
A spokesman for the Thatto Heath comedian and actor confirmed proceedings had started over an article published in The Guardian G2 section on May 1.
In the piece Guardian reporter Mary O'Hara heavily criticised Vegas's actions during a gig at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London.
Vegas is also suing over a follow up article in the group's Sunday newspaper, The Observer.
Vegas has hired leading law firm Schillings to bring the action against the publisher of the newspaper.
Both pieces have since been removed from The Guardian's website.
