Their first time performing at the Greater Manchester Drama Federation Festival saw the school come away with two Certificates of Merit. One was awarded to ACT II student Liz Fraser for her performance as ‘Sarah’ and to ACT II as a whole for their presentation of ‘Maria Marten’.

At two other festivals, ACT I student Jamie Bennett won the David Wood

Trophy for Best Individual Junior Performance for his role as ‘Azaeus’ in the Juniors production of ‘Pandemonium’.

ACT II came away with three more awards, again their play 'Maria Marten'. Another Certificate of Merit was gained by Liz Fraser for her role. Frasier Dalgliesh won the Best Supporting Youth Award and Emma Kinsey won the Best Youth Actress Award.

Head Tutor Valerie Harris said: “This year has been a tough year so it’s all the more pleasing to be recognised in this way. Everyone has pulled together and it’s been a marvellous team effort. This has resulted in not just awards being gained but everyone’s hard work being highly praised by the audiences as well as the adjudicators.”

There will be vacancies in the junior section in September and boys are especially welcome. For more information email Valerie Harris at info@acts4u.org.uk or visit actsdrama.wordpress.com.
