A MUSICAL dance extravaganze that takes the audience on a journey to 19th century Vienna is heading for Manchester.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, Raymond Gubbay’s production of The Johann Strauss Gala will tour the UK and Ireland in 2015 featuring the finest waltzes and polkas from the Strauss musical dynasty.
Hosted by irrepressible showman Rainer Hersch, the performance recreates the ambiance of a 19th century Viennese ballroom as he guides the audience with a dash of comedy through a frolicking show filled with music, laughter and dance.
Rainer will be conducting the Johann Strauss Orchestra’s classic renditions of Strauss masterpieces including ‘Blue Danube Waltz’, ‘Radetzky March’, ‘Roses From The South’, ‘Thunder and Lightning Polka’ and ‘Perpetuum Mobile’.
Soprano Kristy Swift performing a sparkling selection of much-loved songs from the era of romance including ‘Laughing Song’ from Die Fledermaus.
Completing the cast are the highly acclaimed Johann Strauss Dancers who will perform in dazzling costumes of the period, and dance to the most popular waltzes ever composed.
The Johann Strauss Gala will take place at Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, on Sunday 11 January 2015 at 3pm.
