ONE of the most talented folk musicians of her generation, Eliza Carthy returns for an intimate gig at the Citadel on Saturday, December 5.
Describing herself simply as a modern British musician, Eliza Carthy is described by others as ‘one of the figureheads of the English folk revival’ and ‘truly captivating’.
Eliza will be performing songs from her latest album, the highly original Dreams of Breathing Underwater, which has received universal acclaim.
A truly inventive and innovative singer and fiddle-player, Eliza’s parents are legendary musicians Martin Carthy and Norma Waterson, the family which has revitalised folk music for new audiences.
Eliza has earned two Mercury Prize nominations and has already won an unrivalled seven BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, as well as being nominated for Singer of the Year, Best Album and Best Original Song for Mr Magnifico at this year's awards.
She has worked with an array of artists, from Paul Weller to Billy Bragg and from Nick Cave to Joan Baez.
