MEET three Kop legends as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of Bill Shankly’s arrival as Liverpool manager with a unique stage production charting the Anfield boss’s life and career.
The Bill Shankly Story is returning by public demand to St Helens Theatre Royal next month, with a cast including renowned Reds such as Ian St John, Ron Yeats and Chris Lawler, who will be available for photographs and autographs after the show.
The show, which will be staged on Wednesday, July 8 at 7.30pm, has been running since September 2006 and returns to the Theatre Royal after performing to a full house last December.
Author and City Talk radio presenter, John Keith, who wrote the show and speaks Shankly’s words, and actor Steve Hazlehurst, who narrates the compelling story, will join the Anfield heroes on stage to recount the life of the iconic former manager.
St John said: “This is a show featuring people who knew the great man and played for him.
“It gives a true insight into Shanks and there’s no other production like it.
“There was a great atmosphere when we did the show in St Helens last winter and we’re looking forward to going back.”
Tickets are selling fast, and can be purchased from the Theatre Royal box office at £12 or £10 concessions.
