FLOOK, winners of the 2006 BBC Radio 2 Folk Band of the Year award, perform their debut Citadel gig this Saturday 29 November at 8pm.
These award winning instrumental tunesmiths have recently been performing in Japan, Ireland and France and have lined up the date in St Helens and one up in Keswick before heading off to Austria.
In the pantheon of Irish/English folk groups they don’t come much more revered than Flook who are celebrated for their organic, fluid and brilliantly innovative all-acoustic fusion of Irish folklore with modern and transnational rhythms.
What really makes them extraordinary, however, is even when performing sets they have interpreted many times before, they cannot help but be inspired while on stage and long-familiar tunes become utterly transformed, fresh and new.
If you turn up at The Citadel on Saturday night you are sure to be amazed, stunned and delighted by Flook who comprise Brian Finnegan on flutes, Sarah Allen on flute and accordion, Ed Boyd on guitar and John Joe Kelly on bodhran.
Tickets are on sale now priced £16 or £14 for concessions. For more information, contact The Citadel Box Office on 01744 735436, or visit www.citadel.org.uk
