Another week, another new celebrity reality talent show format.

And because we’ve seen celebrities doing literally everything else, ITV brought us Flockstars – the show where people you vaguely recognise get a dog to guide some sheep around a small obstacle course while manically shouting: “Come-bye.”

People literally couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

The show immediately got dog lovers on side.

Yes, that meant Brendan Cole was taking second billing to Hoggy and Amanda Lamb to Midge. That might have been because some of the celebrities weren’t appreciably more famous than the dogs, though.

People were wondering who was behind this slightly unpromising format.

And seriously, what on earth was serious sports broadcaster Gabby Logan doing presenting the show?

Finally it was time for the top shepherding action to get under way, and that meant it was time to utter the show’s heart-pumping catchphrase.

Brendan and Hoggy were first up and frankly they made the course look very easy. So much so that people were a little suspicious.

The trickiest bit is a little stone bridge that they have to get the sheep over.

The man-and-dog pair got their sheep round the course and into the pen in one minute and 49 seconds, which was apparently a good time.

Well done Brendan and Hoggy.

The viewing public weren’t convinced.

At least one person was enjoying it though.

Next up was TV presenter Amanda Lamb, who was surely only chosen for the show because of her name.

Just because she’s called Lamb, though, doesn’t mean she’s much of a sheep whisperer. Her sheep legged it before she’d even started, jumping out of the arena to freedom.

They sportingly gave Amanda another go though, and this time she and her mutt Midge nailed it. They completed the course in one minute and 25 seconds, securing their place in the next round (yes, there’s another round) and leaving Brendan with an agonising wait to see if he’s one of the best runners-up.

Otherwise the show is over for him and he gets to go home. Sorry, he *has* to go home.

For the sake of balance, it should be pointed out that some people thought it was good.

And at least a new catchphrase has been born.

Join us next time when the celebs will have to herd geese as well as sheep.

Oh ITV, you are spoiling us.
