Doctor Who may have been on our screens for over half a century, but the time travelling sci-fi show was marking another milestone this week.

Stars and crew have taken another opportunity to heap praise on their popular BBC series and celebrate the 10th anniversary of the show’s revival.

It relaunched in 2005 with Christopher Eccleston in the role of the Time Lord and Billie Piper as his assistant Rose, with the debut episode named after her.

Current Doctor Peter Capaldi surprised young fans at The Doctor Who Experience by leading them in singing happy birthday to the show and then cutting a cake made to look like the Tardis.

The series marked the 50th anniversary since it began in November 2013 with a special episode called Day Of The Doctor, which saw previous Doctors return to join then-Time Lord Matt Smith.
