Judy Murray has revealed that her tennis player sons were able to watch her first performance on Strictly Come Dancing even though they were on the other side of the world.

The tennis coach took to the floor with her professional partner Anton Du Beke at the weekend to perform a waltz to Mull Of Kintyre.

Although the Strictly judges weren't overly impressed with the dance, giving her a score of 18, Judy told spin-off show It Takes Two it had gone better than she had expected.

"I had the best time," she said. "I thought I was going to be absolutely dreadful. My goal was to get round without tripping and forgetting where I was on the dance floor, forgetting the sequence, and I managed to do it.

"To go out there with the bagpipes, the Scottish song, the beautiful dress and my amazing partner in his kilt was just a dream."

Judy revealed that her tennis champ sons Andy and Jamie had both managed to watch her dance even though they were out of the country, thanks to the wonders of modern technology.

"My daughter-in-law, Jamie's wife, she recorded it with her phone off the television and she sent it to them, because Andy was in China and Jamie was in Kuala Lumpur, and when I woke up the next morning they had both seen it, and Jamie said to me 'don't worry about the marks Mum, it's very important not to peak too early!'."

This week Judy will move to a Latin dance and is doing the cha cha, and partner Anton teased that they would have some "towel-ography" in their routine.

"We're not messing about, we're getting it all out there," he said.

Judy said of her first impressions of the new dance: "I like the speed if it. He tells me I've got to be flirty and sexy and that's not really my thing, but the biggest challenge for me is the heels. I'm just used to being in trainers, so actually being high up in the shoes I just find it difficult to keep my balance when I step. But it's been good fun so far."
