Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were reportedly paid a hefty five million dollars (£3 million) for their wedding pictures - which they gave to charity.

The Hollywood A-listers secretly tied the knot at their French home, Chateau Miraval, last month and snaps of their nuptials appeared in Hello! and People magazines.

Radar Online has now reported that each publication paid a whopping 2.5 million dollars (£1.5 million) for the images of the couple's big day and the stars will give it to their charitable organisation, which supports humanitarian causes all over the world.

"Brad and Angelina knew there would be tremendous interest in their wedding pictures, and decided to donate the money to their charitable foundation," said the source.

"The couple has done this numerous times in the past."

Parents-of-six Brad, 50, and Angelina, 39, previously donated money paid for the first images of their children to their charity.

In 2006, they sold the first photos of their daughter Shiloh to People for four million dollars (£2.4 million) and the following year they worked with Hello! and People again, selling pictures of their adopted son Pax.

In 2008 it was reported that they raked in 14 million dollars (£8.5 million) from People for the first photos of their twins Vivienne and Knox, which was said to be a record sum.

The couple, who are shooting their new movie By The Sea in Malta, joked that their honeymoon has become a "workingmoon".

"We are working together on a drama about grief and finding a way through a difficult marriage," Angelina told People. "We find it very funny that it's our honeymoon."
