IT has been almost ten years since New Order began recording on what would become Lost Sirens.

Bust-ups, bad tempers and musical disagreements all contributed to the group’s split in 2007. Four years later fans were delighted to hear the news that the hatchet was buried and the Manchester legends would reform.

The silver-lining to the cloud that was Peter Hook’s departure was the new album Lost Sirens featured his brilliant bass playing skills, that were recorded years earlier.

As strong as they’ve ever sounded, Lost Sirens is a display of New Order’s unique new wave, electronic style.

Californain Grass shows the band’s psychedelic experimentation, however, manages to maintain the signature Madchester beat.

Second track Sugarcane has a distinctive new wave, dancefloor synth sound and could easily fit into any of the band’s five albums released in the 80s.

New Order prove they have still got a lot left in the tank with Lost Sirens. However, their integrity will truly be put to the test on the next Hook-less record...
