THE Clone Roses have released a limited number of extra tickets for their 20th anniversary festival in July after selling more than 3,000 tickets.

The tribute band, who have become renowned for their tribute act to that of the Manchester legends, will be performing in their hometown for the ‘CloneFest’ event on Saturday, July 21.

Despite making waves across the country, the group, including frontman Gav Scott, brother Tony Scott, Mike Bagshaw and Phil Bennett, have always maintained their St Helens ties, playing at the Citadel regularly.

Gav said: "We were just blown away when we found out that 3,000 tickets have already sold.

"At the beginning we were hoping for maybe 1,500 or 2,000 tickets to be sold so it's done so much better than we thought.

"We just can't believe it, it's great.

"We've been doing this for 20 years and to celebrate that in our home town is going to be a brilliant day."

CloneFest will also host a number of tribute bands from the Manchester era including Oasish, The Smiths Ltd, Happy Mondaze, True Order, The Courtbetweeners & The Verve Experience.

The Clone Roses have also announced that Manchester DJ Clint Boon will be spinning tunes along with Clones longtime friend and DJ/Host Dave Sweetmore.

The Clones’ made their first appearance at The Phoenix in St Helens in July 1998.

Over the past two decades the band has gone on to play more than 600 shows, most noticeably headlining venues such as Manchester Academy 1, Belfast Ulster Hall and Warrington Parr Hall.
