ROCK group Silver Story are looking forward to making their hometown return when they hit the stage for a big night of music at the Lounge Bar.

The four-piece band have been touring around the country, with recent highlights including a performance at Chelsea FC's Stamford Bridge and playing on the same bill as rock legends Status Quo.

The group consists of lead singer and guitarist Alex McCabe, from Moss Bank, lead guitarist Liam Heys, bassist Jon Huntley, from Rainhill and drummer Gaz Haigh, from Moss Bank.

"We haven't played in St Helens for nearly two years and it should be a good night," said lead singer Alex, 27, who describes the group's music as a contemporary rock with a "pop element" with influences including Foo Fighters and Nirvana.

"It's going to be awesome. It's usually really busy and a lot come out to see us and we get to see people we haven't seen for a while."

Alex says it has been a busy time for the group in recent times, with plenty to look forward to with plans for a second album underway and the group's first gigs abroad in the pipeline.

"It has been really good, a few months ago we signed a management contract and we have a lot of stuff planned.

"One of our tracks got played on Subtv and was played to all the student unions in the UK along with big artists like Calvin Harris.

"We will be releasing some acoustic tracks from our last album and we are going to be touring the UK and Europe.

"And we've also got another album next year and we're quite busy with the second album."

It promises to be a big night with four bands on the night at the Lounge with main support from Sheffield band Drop Dead Angus, who are joining Silver Story on their current tour.

The gig takes place on Saturday, September 26 with doors opening at 7.30pm and tickets at £3.
