FOUR-piece band the Vinyls are bringing their energetic mod, rock and indie cover versions to St Helens for the first time this weekend.

The feisty foursome are playing at the Bird I'th Hand on Prescot Road on Friday (July 3) night, starting at around 9.15pm.

The Vinyls play two hour-long sets including songs from the '60s through to the present day; classic fast-paced tunes from the likes of the Kinks, the Stones, the Jam, Oasis and the Arctic Monkeys.

Singer Keith Smith said: "We've heard some great things about the place and the crowd they get in for the live bands and we can't wait to do our stuff. "It's brilliant to play new places and meet lots of new people; if you're coming along make sure you've got your dancing shoes on."

The band play more than 60 shows a year at pubs and clubs across the north west, as well as at events and functions, including weddings and birthday parties.

They have performed at the fan zone at Goodison Park before the Merseyside derby match and have entertained participants and spectators at both The Big Colour Run at Neston Cricket Club and the Liverpool Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in June.
