ST HELENS institution The Unnamed Players will bring comedy show Friends and Neighbours to the Citadel.

The Unnamed Players have been entertaining audiences in St Helens since they their formation in 1947.

Originally performing two plays a year at the old Pilkington Theatre on Borough Road, before moving to The Theatre Royal from 1960 to 2003, they thrilled theatre-goers with at least one Agatha Christie play a year.

They have since performed on a number of occasions at The Citadel and have even put on murder mysteries to raise money for charities such as Willowbrook Hospice.

And tonight and tomorrow they make a return to the venue with Austin Steel's comedy Friends and Neighbours.

Set in an industrial Lancastrian town, it centres around the Grimshaw family and their neighbours.

When the welfare officer tells Mrs Grimshaw she is to put up two foreigners in her home, there are hilarious goings-on when she breaks the news to her husband Albert.

The show promises a night of comedy not to be missed.

Friends and Neighbours is on tonight (Thursday, May 28) and tomorrow, with doors opening at 7pm both nights with a 7.30pm start.

Tickets are £8 each. For further information or to book tickets call the Citadel Box Office on 01744 735436 or visit the Citadel website www.citadel.org.uk.
