THE Citadel’s annual Christmas pantomime will see the venue returning to one of its earliest productions.

Babes In The Wood will be performed for the community panto, a show which was first played at the Citadel in 1884.

The show forms part of a Heritage Lottery-funded project looking at the history of The Citadel building – the UK’s fifth oldest working theatre.

The story features English folk hero Robin Hood and charts his battle to save the babes from the evil Sheriff Rottingham and will be brought to life by a highly talented non-professional cast made up of young people and adults from the area.

Group bookings are available for all performances and we are able to offer one free ticket for every nine sold in a single transaction.

The Citadel has also teamed up with Tyrer’s Department Store and is offering a special discount of £5 per ticket with a Tyrer’s Grotto ticket, at the Citadel box office.

Caffe Nero will be opening later in the run-up to Christmas and this is a great place to pop in for a cup of coffee and a piece of cake before the show.

Babes In The Wood is the perfect festive treat for all the family, so book your seats now to avoid disappointment.

The show will be performed five times between Thursday, December 11 and Sunday, December 14. Tickets are £7 for adults and £5 per concession. Call 01744 735436 to book or visit www.citadel.org.uk for further information.
