TWO town centre pubs are staging cider festival until Sunday, July 27.

The events at The Glass House in Market Street and The Running Horses in Water Street will each offer up to 17 ciders over the 17 days, including some special brews produced exclusively for the festival.

Apple, pear and fruit ciders will be on offer at £2.20 a pint and the choice includes award-winning tipples and for the adventurous the line-up includes unusual flavours featuring beetroot, rhubarb, ginger and chilli, apple and raspberry and whisky cask cider.

Among them are Boxing Dog (Mr Whitehead's Cider Co), Somerset Tree Shaker (Shepton Mallet Cider Mill), Hogfather (Orchard Pig), Doctors Orders (Green Valley Cider Ltd), Pear Shaped (Sandford Orchards) and Whisky Cask (Thistly Cross Cider).

The Glass House manager, Darren Westwood, said: "Cider is the perfect summer drink and the drinks have been sourced from across the UK with something to suit all palates."

Tasting notes will be available in the pubs.
