THE clock is ticking down to a special event this weekend which has been revived after 13 years.

Newton Town Show is back by popular demand, and will be held at Mesnes Park this Saturday.

The recently-formed Newton and Earlestown Community Group said it was their mission to put the pride into their community, and raised sponsorship from local businesses to get the show up and running.

There promises to be a packed programme of events, including the Red Devils parachute display team, a classic car show, a model aircraft display, fun fair and a miniature steam railway.

With a samba band, Punch and Judy show and climbing wall the show is definitely back with a bang.

There will also be musical performances by Valley brass band, the George Formby Society, Newton Music Rooms and the Celebration Choir.

Admission is free, and the show starts at 11am. There is also a free open top vintage shuttle bus service operating to and from Earlestown Market Square.
