DON’T worry about a few drops of rain... summer is definitely coming to the streets of St Helens.

Keep your eyes peeled for dinosaurs, fiery stilt walkers, acrobats and magic, when the town centre explodes into life with an exciting showcase event early next month.

The new Summer Streets will bring breathtaking outdoor attractions, during three packed days of urban entertainment from Thursday, August 2 to Saturday, August 4.

And you won’t miss any of the fun – all the action takes place right on the streets and, best of all, it’s completely free.

Summer Streets highlights include:

  • The Foodies – a comedy chef and his hilariously hopeless trainee, the Farenheight fiery stilt walkers, Tiny the Dinosaur and a children’s show inside the belly of a 30-foot long sleeping pig.
  • Squashbox Theatre will wow audiences with their puppetry, storytelling, live music and comedy routines. Also well worth catching is the world famous Gareth Jones, an amazing escapologist who breaks free from a straitjacket, chains and cling film.
  • Turbo Jonez and The Temple of Boom, a one-man comedy dance show featuring beats from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, and Granny Turismo – Doris, Mary and Marge, who hurtle down the road on their souped-up shopping trolleys.

Other acts include Lobster a la Cart, giant lobsters who entertain the crowds, children’s favourites the Urban Meerkats and Dan the Hat, who dazzles with his yoyo skills and jaw-dropping hat routines.

Deputy leader of St Helens Council, Cllr Barrie Grunewald, said: “We’re thrilled that we’re able to deliver this new Summer Streets event for the people of St Helens.

“The event is simply brimming with wild and wonderful street acts that will amaze and enthral audiences of all ages. It’s top drawer entertainment from across the world – and it won’t cost a penny to see it.”
